Campfire is a web-based music app. It's main objective is to fill a void in exiting music players which need to work across many platforms (hence web based), being able to sync some preferences, have additional playback options not offered in programs like VLC, and most importantly, work offline.

Starting with the most peculiar requirement for a web app: offline mode. The app downloads and caches all music metadata, cover art, and music data within the local browser allowing access to it at all times therefore an active connection to the music repository or even the internet is not required. Your web browser usually also helps by caching the app webpage should you reload the browser without network access. To explain Campfire music repositories, they are a place you can search for and download music from. You can be signed into multiple and listen to music from across multiple at the same time and even within the same playlist you put together. Preferences such as star ratings will synchronise with your account on the repository when a connection to it can be made. No network access is required when setting or updating ratings and other preferences. Lastly, there are some additional playback options such as stopping playback after a certain amount of time or number of tracks played, single and multiple repeat track options among a few more.
